Steeple Langford Parish Council is seeking applicants for the post of Parish Clerk/Responsible Financial Officer.
This important formal post is an essential part of the smooth running of the Parish Council (your local governance).
Duties for this home-based appointment include attending a minimum of 6 monthly evening Parish Council Meetings per year – usually on the first Tues of Jan/Mar/May/Jul/Sep/Nov, additional ordinary and special purpose meetings and any extra-ordinary meetings called as required. You will be responsible for: Managing all the Parish Council’s administrative functions; preparing meeting agendas; taking minutes keeping financial records; preparing accounts and the annual budget, and preparing records for audit purposes; dealing with general enquiries and correspondence; posting of information on noticeboards and potentially updating and co-ordinating the Parish Council website. You will ensure that all legal, statutory, financial, and other governing provisions are observed and ensure Council meetings are properly administered and decisions effectively implemented.
The successful candidate will need to build a wide range of positive relationships with Councillors, residents, local groups, volunteers, and partner organisations.
The candidate must have experience with MS Office, or equivalent, and ideally in website management.
The ideal candidate will be CILCA qualified, or willing to obtain the qualification within 18/24 months.
This is a part time, permanent appointment – 4 hours per week (subject to review).
Salary is in-line with the National Joint Council for Local Government Services (NJC) pay scales. Indiatively Scale point 5, and is in the region of £12.18 per hour.
